Better privacy than the original

The setup encrypts everything Messenger sends between your computer and our server.

    The setup offers a plug-in that shows the song you play as your status.

    The client opens on its sign-in window.

SmartScreen and Smart App Control don't know our setup. Choose "More info", then "Run anyway".
On Windows XP?
Internet Explorer on XP can't open this site. Download the setup on another computer, or with a browser that still runs on XP.

Fixed from the original client

The 2012 client, with these fixed.

  • All data is encrypted between your computer and the server, even on Windows XP.
  • The add requests window no longer opens off screen when the contact list is minimized. The request arrived, but nobody saw it.
  • On Windows 8 and newer, the client has its own skinned title bar again, without doubled text.
  • The client no longer starts regedit at its first launch, which made Windows ask for an administrator.
  • A contact can no longer run script through an old IMVironment or a ymsgr: link.
  • Messenger's webcam, voice and Photo Share controls can't be loaded by Internet Explorer or other programs.
  • The status bar no longer shows a placeholder after a reconnect, and a status a contact cleared no longer stays grey under their name.
  • The first sign-in window, the banner above the search box and the help links show our pages instead of blank ones.
  • And many other security holes fixed.
